The Eagles made things interesting late, but ultimately it wasn’t enough as the Buccaneers pulled off a 28-22 road win on “Thursday Night Football” to improve to 5-1 on the season.

The victory looked less secure after the Eagles scored a touchdown and two-point conversion to make it a six-point game in the fourth quarter. But a taunting penalty by Philadelphia on the ensuing drive helped set up Tampa Bay in good field position and it eventually walked away victorious.

The Bucs turned in a balanced offensive performance. Bruce Arians’ squad ran the ball 32 times and threw it 42 times, with Tom Brady and Leonard Fournette each accounting for two touchdowns. The Buccaneers also far outgained the Eagles 399-213, and Brady and Co. notched 27 first downs to Philly’s 16.

Once again, the Eagles’ rushing attack was led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, who kept his place as the team’s leading ground gainer. He had 10 carries (the Eagles had 19 attempts total) for 44 yards and two touchdowns. But he completed just 50 percent of his passes and amassed just 113 yards in the air.

The Eagles also struggled mightily on third down, converting just three times in 10 attempts, and were nearly doubled up in time of possession (39:56-20:04).

The win keeps Tampa Bay securely atop the NFC South with a game against the Bears on tap in Week 7. Philadelphia will look to stop the bleeding after falling to 2-4 and third place in the NFC East. The Eagles will face the Raiders in Las Vegas on Oct. 24.
